Welcome to www.istvanbeothy.fr

This site is completely dedicated to the work of Istvan Beöthy, Hungarian artist who chose Paris in 1925 to work. More than 600 images, reproductions of his sculptures, paintings, drawings and exhibitions, redraw the route of this lover of forms, llife, and pull us in a time rich in avant-gardist movements which made the Modern art history.
Initiated by Alain Anceau as well as Ayin and Christine Beöthy, the artist's daughters, this site shows us to which point Beöthy joins completely in the history of the artistic movements of his time with the creation of the groups Abstraction-Création, Réalités Nouvelles, le Groupe Espace. His collaboration with the biggest architects of the 50s, such as Corbusier, confirms him as one of the big thinkers of the role of the artist in the world of immediate post-war years.
As a supplement to this site, you can consult Beöthy archives which were deposited at the Contemporary Edition Memory Institute (IMEC) at the Ardenne abbey near Caen (see section "LINKS").
